Unit 5 My new room (Section A)Good morning/afternoon, judges. I’m the candidate NO.4 applying for primaryschool English teacher . Today my topic is my new room. It’s my great honor to presentmy lesson here. To make my presentation much clearer, I’ll describe my thoughts in thefollowing 6 aspects: analysis of teaching materials,analysis of students, teachingmethods, learning methods, teaching procedures and blackboard design. Now I amgoing to present them one by one. Part One: Analysis of the Teaching MaterialFirst of all, I’d like to give some analysis of the material. This lesson is the third period of section A ,unit 5, PEP for primary English book5A, the content is a short passage describing a rabbit room, it’s interesting, so it can letthe students learn easily and happily. Through this course,students can learn moreexpressions and words about furniture and direction, it will become the bedding of thecoming lesson, and their reading and writing ability will be improved. Based on the new curriculum standard,the teaching objects are divided into threeparts: 1. Knowledge objectivesKnowledge object is grasping the new expressions: there are two bedrooms, akitchen .etc. Meanwhile learning the sentence pattern " there be", and can use it in thereal situation.2. Ability objectivesAbility object is enhancing their reading and writing ability, and fostering ss'observation competence, thinking ability, and self-study ability.3. Emotional objectivesEmotional object is arousing students' learning interest, cultivate the students' spiritof team cooperation.Based on the analysis of teaching materials, the teaching key points and difficultpoints are as follows:Teaching key points include the new expressions: there are two bedrooms, a


kitchen .etc. While the teaching difficult points are to understand the sentence pattern"there be" and describe a room using the pattern.Part Two: Analysis of the studentsAfter the analysis of teaching material, now let me analyze the students. With thegrowth of age, the students in grade 5 have the subtle mental change, from the active toquiet, dislike projecting themselves. They have one-years study experience, have get intouch with some words and can express the things they can do , which provide thefoundation for this lesson . however, their abstract thinking ability level is low and theirattention can be scattered easily. All the factors above will be considered into myteaching plan.Part Three: The Teaching MethodsAccording to the students physical and physiological characteristics,I will adopttask-based language teaching method and the situational approach to improve thestudents enthusiasm,design a variety of activities , make the students learn to play andplay to learn .Part Four: The Learning MethodsCorrespondingly , The students will take part in the activities and finish the taskscooperatively in pairs and in groups. They will use the language in a relax, democracy,and harmonious atmosphere .Teaching AidsIn order to finish my teaching, I will use the tape recorder, multimedia, andpictures as the teaching aids .Part Five: Teaching ProceduresSo much for the teaching methods and learning methods, Now it comes to the mostimportant part —teaching procedures, it including the following 4 steps: Step 1: warm up and lead inI use the VCD to play a song about my new room, ss will sing after the recorder, letthe ss get in touch with some new words and sentence pattern and enter in the next partnaturally , meanwhile, the learning atmosphere will be very active.Step 2:pre-reading


Ask students to look at the picture to predict the main idea of the passage , thenlisten to the tape and check if they are right. So that their curiosity to the passage can be stimulate, they will read it with moreinterest.Step 3: while-readingRaise a simple question “how many bedroom does the rabbit have?” ask studentsread the passage as soon as possible and answer my question. It can improve theirability of searching information.Read the passage again , underline the important words and sentences. And I willexplain them during reading the whole passage,especially the sentence pattern “ therebe”. Show the two sentences on the blackboard “ there are two rooms, there is a mirror”,let’s students pay more attention to the different form of “ be” according to thefollowing noun. After that ,I ask students to make several sentences using it until they understandand master the structure thoroughly.Fill the blank of the practice one “finish the sentences.”Through this step, students can understand and master the new words, phrases andsentences better. It also can make them know the method of describing a place.Step 4 practice In this step, I will design three activities to consolidate what they learned. Letstudents learn to play and play to learn.Activity 1 Play a word game:"snowball".Divide the whole students into four groups , accumulate the phrases and hold acompetition in class ,the fastest group will be the winner. Students can remember thesewords better.Activity 2 let’s playDivide students into 4 groups, play the game, someone show the pictures, othersmake sentences using “in my room, there is …” as a start. They finish the game untileveryone make a sentence at least.Activity 3 work in pairs.


Firstly write a short passage to describe their own room using “there be” sentencepattern., then introduce it to their partner. I will select some excellent passage and showthem to the whole class. In this way , ss' initiative and enthusiasm can be mobilized andit also can improve their writing and speaking ability . These activities can cultivate the ss' communicative ability in English. ss can knowthe main content of this lesson better, and their self-study ability can be cultivated.Step 5 summaryIn this step, ss sum up by themselves, they will talk about what they grasped in thislesson and make an assessment on each group. through it ,ss can know the main contentof this lesson better, and their independent thinking ability can be cultivated.Step 6 homeworkWrite a short passage to describe their parents’ bedroom, it can make studentsknow that English is useful, so that their learning motivation will be more strong.Part Six: Design of the blackboardFinally ,I will talk about my blackboard design ,write the key phrases andsentences on the blackboard, in order to let the students know the important points andremember them more easily.
