Unit 4 What are you doing(Section B)Good morning, dear judges. I’m No 5 candidate applying for primary schoolEnglish teacher. Today my topic is Unit 4 What are you doing? My presentation can bedivided into the following six aspects: analysis of teaching materials, analysis ofstudents, teaching methods, learning methods, teaching procedures and blackboarddesign. Now, I will present them one by one.Part One: Analysis of the Teaching MaterialThis class is the first period of Section B, Unit 4, primary school English book 6,PEP. This class is mainly about Ss’ activities on a day. It’s closely related to Ss’ real life.So Ss can learn it easily and happily. Based on the analysis of the teaching material, Iset up the following three objectives:Teaching objectives1. Knowledge objective: Students can write and say key phrases: listen to music,clean the room, write a letter and so on.2. Ability objective: Ss can use the sentence patterns “What is he doing?” "He is..."Cultivate their ability of speaking and listening.3. Emotion objective: To arouse the Ss’ interests in English.According to the new curriculum standard, the teaching key points and teachingdifficult points are as follows:1. Key points:Master the new phrases such as listen to music, clean the room, and write a letter.2. Difficult points:Ss master the use of sentence patterns “What is he doing?” "He is..." in the realsituation.Part Two: Analysis of the studentsIn order to make Ss the real masters of the class, now I will analyze my Ss. Ss inGrade 5 have learnt English for more than 2 years. They have accumulated some basicEnglish knowledge. They have curiosity about English and are willing to speak English.They can do some actions under the teacher's guidance, but they can't use English


flexibly. Their abstract thinking is still not fully mature; their image thinking occupiesan important position in learning. Pupils are emulative and active, and have strongcollective sense of honor. I will take all these factors into consideration. Part Three: The Teaching MethodsIn order to break through the key points and difficult points, task-based languagemethod, situational teaching method and TPR method will be adopted to finish myteaching. These teaching methods will help attract Ss’ interest to the class. Part Four: The Learning MethodsThe students will adopt the corresponding learning methods ,such as Groupcompetition\pair work \Individual work, through perception 、participation 、experience、cooperation 、exploration 、observation 、generalization practice ,they can improve thecomprehensive language usage ability.Part Five: Teaching ProceduresNext comes the most important part of my presentation, teaching procedure. Basedon Students' physiological and psychological characteristics, I design the followingteaching procedure.1. lead in After daily greetings, I will show the Ss some pictures of different cartooncharacters, and talk about these characters with Ss by using the new words of thislesson. 2. presentation(1) I will write the key words and sentence pattern on the blackboard, and ask Ss toread after me for several times. If I read in a high voice, Ss will read in a low voice. If Iread in a low voice, Ss will read in a high voice.(2) I will invite one student to be the little teacher and he teaches the other Ss howto read. If I put up my right hand, only the boys read after him. If I put up my left hand,only the girls read after me. I will correct their pronunciation.(3) Ss will listen to the tape “let’s chant”. Then Ss will read the lines as loudly aspossible.3. Practice


(1) Guessing game: I will invite a student to do some actions in front of the classand the other Ss guess what he is doing by using: "What are you doing?"(2) Pair work: Ss work in pairs and ask and answer: “what is sb doing?” accordingto the pictures on page 49.4. summaryAsk Ss to sum up what they have learned today by themselves, and I will make anassessment.5. homeworkSs will report what they have learnt today to their parents.Part Six: Design of the blackboardLast but not least, I will talk about my blackboard design. I write the key wordsand sentence pattern on the blackboard, in order to make Ss remember the key pointsmore easily.
